Join Spotlight On host Lawrence Peryer in conversation with Richard King, author of "Travels Over Feeling: Arthur Russell, A Life", available now from Anthology Editions.

"Travels Over Feeling" paints a portrait of Arthur Russell unlike any that have come before, revealing a true picture of one of the most distinctive and influential artists of the last 50 years. The book combines largely unseen visual materials, including handwritten scores, lyrics, photos, letters, and drawings, pulled from Russell's archives at the New York Public Library and personal collections of close confidants, alongside new texts by King and extensive original interviews with Arthur's collaborators, contemporaries, family, and friends.

From his pioneering compositions as part of the Downtown NYC avant-garde scene to his genre-expanding disco productions, Russell created enduring and foundationally influential work spanning new wave, art pop, and folk until his premature death in 1992. He remains a seminal, influential figure to multiple generations of artists and listeners, in New York and beyond.
